Generation failures

Symptoms

The engine reports fallback generation, anti-repeat exhaustion, repeated answers, or no valid candidate.

Likely causes

• A theme is too small for its configured season.
• Recent history consumes too much of the eligible pool.
• A strategy cannot satisfy the current phrase or separator constraints.
• A changed runtime fingerprint invalidated an expected snapshot.

Investigation and resolution

Run pnpm runtime:status -- --as-of=<date> and a fixed-date simulation. Check active theme, difficulty coverage, answer scope, and fallback count. Prefer adding or rebalancing content and confirming the intended memory scope before relaxing generation policy.
